Mirek Stehlik was born in the Czech Republic, but emigrated to Canada in his mid-20's. Years later he learned to fly at the Brampton Flying Club, eventually moving to Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. In 1991 he purchased a Piper Cherokee Warrior and in 2003, Mirek embarked on a journey around the perimeter of the United States, starting and finishing at the Waterloo-Wellington Airport in Kitchener, Ontario.  This is his story as written by Nancy Wilcox, a columnist with the K-W Record newspaper.
